10 Very Random “Ten” Questions
Everyone has random questions to ask our hockey players and our coach – I know I would love to get into the brains of my favorite professional athletes and feel like I know them as a person as well as players. Here then, is something that will hopefully somewhat cure your itch. I was able to get answers from Bryan Hince, Kyle Van der Male, Eric Slais, Mike Towns, Tyler Fletcher, and our coach Mike Craigen on these ten very very random questions, all concerning the number ten to celebrate our team’s tenth year anniversary.
1. Where were you 10 years ago?
Bryan Hince: In Timmins, Ontario playing AAA hockey for the Timmins Steelers. First year I moved out and was on my own. Never looked back.
Kyle Van der Male: 10 years ago I was a freshman at Exeter High School. I had just moved to New Hampshire from Michigan and was playing bantam hockey for the New Hampshire Junior Wildcats.
2. Where do you want to be 10 years from now? Doing what?
Kyle Van der Male: In 10 years I’d like to be married with 2 kids. I’ll work as a freelance financial consultant and be the director of player development for a youth hockey organization.
Tyler Fletcher: I would like to be back in Calgary Running my Land Development and Beef Jerky Company .
3. Who are your 10 favorite athletes of all time?
Mike Towns: Wayne Gretzky, Trevor Linden, Ryan Kesler, Michael Jordan, Sidney Crosby, Patrick Roy, Donovan Bailey, Terry Fox, Ken Griffey Jr. Mario Lemieux
Tyler Fletcher: Wendel Clark,Wayne Gretzky, Mike Tyson, Tiger Woods, Michel Jordan, Theo Fleury,Bobby Probert, Doug Gilmore , Tie Domi , Mikhali Grabrovski
4. How would you spend $10 million?
Mike Craigen: Down payment on a brand new hockey arena for the Knoxville Ice Bears.
Eric Slais: My sister, girlfriend, and I all owe a substantial amount of school loans- I would eliminate all of that debt. Then I would buy a nice home, car, and travel a bit, but nothing outrageous. I’m not much of a spender so I would save and invest a large amount, as well. It would just be extremely nice not to have to worry about money.
5. What is your favorite food under $10?
Mike Craigen: You can’t beat Wasabi’s lunch special, steak and chicken for $9.
Bryan Hince: Moe’s
Eric Slais: Burritos.
Kyle Van der Male: Sushi - spicy tuna roll
Mike Towns: Subway Roasted Chicken
Tyler Fletcher: Junior Bacon Cheeseburger JBC
6. If you were stranded on an island, what are the 10 things you would bring with you?
Mike Craigen: 1) Sun screen 2) solar panels 3) phone 4) phone charger 5) Wyatt 6) Butt Man 7) a hatchet 8) a pillow 9) a blanket 10) a rifle
Bryan Hince: 1.knife 2.Lighter 3.ranch sauce (cause everything tastes good with ranch) 4.Ball cap 5. Toilet paper 6.Fishing line 7.Radio 8.Batteries 9. 6 string guitar 10.spare strings
7. Where are 10 places you want to visit or go on vacation?
Eric Slais: Italy, Greece, Thailand, Ireland/ Scotland, Alaskan Cruise, France, An African Safari, Amsterdam, Aspen Ski Resort, India
Mike Towns: Dominican republic, Las Vegas, Cancun, Hawaii, Italy, Paris, Amsterdam, Sydney, Berlin, England
8. If you were to die in 10 hours, how would you spend it?
Mike Craigen: At a Stanley Cup parade for the Toronto Maple Leafs with my family and dogs.
Bryan Hince: Spend 10 hours trying to figure out why I only have 10 hours to live; Friends and family by my side.
Kyle Van der Male: I’d go sky diving, then spend the day on the water and have a huge party with my family and friends
9. If you were about to play your last hockey game, who are the 10 people you would like to be there to watch it?
Eric Slais: 1) My girlfriend, Emily, 2) My niece/god daughter, Camille, 3) My sister and her husband, Jamie and Sean, 4) My parents, Steve and Suellen, 5) 4 of my really close friends from home that haven’t had a chance to see me play a professional hockey game
Mike Towns: My Dad, My Mom, My Brother and Sister, Grandma, My friends Steve, Jeff, Adam, and my old coachs Ron and Stavros
10. How many games will it take for you to score 10 goals?
(Sookie’s note: Feel free to bet on these claims as you please!)
Mike Craigen: A lot. Unless you count practice. In that case, I should be there by 2014.
Bryan Hince: 10000000000000000000000000!!! I’m a goalie. But if i was a forward….. probably 2. Just because Fletcher snaked my 10th in the first game.
Eric Slais: I will have 10 goals by game 22 this season.
Kyle Van der Male: 30 games
Mike Towns: Hopefully not the whole season
Tyler Fletcher: 25
