Craigen to be honorary judge
date: 02/20/2009Mike played with the Ice Bears for four seasons starting in 2004, and many of us have fond memories of the fiery style of leadership and aggressive play Craigen brought to the game every night. Mike’s career was a varied one, starting with the Sarnia Sting of the OHL in 2000 and moving his way through various leagues with teams like the Lindsay Muskies and Alabama Slammers before settling with the Ice Bears. He slammed home over 80 goals for our Bears before hanging up his skates, much to the delight of the other Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) teams no doubt, but saddening the local fans. Mike will be in the Coliseum for a chance for us to give him a “welcome back” greeting and a round of applause as a thank you for his years here in Knoxville. He’ll be signing postgame autographs after the game, so be sure to get a jersey or program signed by a well-loved Ice Bear veteran, Mike Craigen.
The Knoxville Ice Bears are not only looking forward to Craigen’s visit, but also to a weekend full of home games and events. Can’t make it to New Orleans for Mardi Gras? Come celebrate with Lance Cunningham Ford, 90.3 The Rock and the Knoxville Ice Bears as they take on the Fayetteville FireAntz on Friday, February 20. All college students will receive $8 silver tickets just by showing their college ID. The team will also be wearing specialty jerseys, which will be auctioned off immediately following the game. One lucky fan will win a specialty jersey, compliments of Lance Cunningham Ford. Then be sure to join BAR Knoxville, HOT 104.5 and the Ice Bears for the final round of the Miss Ice Bear competition on Saturday.
The finish off the weekend with the Season Ticket Holder Skate with the Players Party, which is going to be held on Sunday, February 22 at the Ice Chalet located at 100 Lebanon Street, Knoxville, TN 37919 from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m. All season ticket holders will get free ice time and $2.00 skate rentals. All guests will pay $3.50 for skate rentals and $5.50 for admission. This is a great opportunity for season ticket holders to skate with the players, get autographs and photos and enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere of the Ice Chalet. Season ticket holders will need to RSVP to Kim at the Knoxville Ice Bears by calling (865) 525-7825 by February 19.
