Hat Trick weekend ends with another

date: 01/18/2009

Knoxville Ice Bears fans were treated to three home games in three days this weekend. “Hat Trick Weekend” lived up to its name with two Ice Bears hat tricks on the ice. Friday night Mike Carter continued his hot streak by scoring three goals against the Richmond Renegades, and tonight Tim Vitek scored three goals against the Columbus Cottonmouths. Both Carter and Vitek are among the top ten leader scorers in the Southern Professional Hockey League this season. Ice Bears forward Kevin Swider, who did not play this weekend, is still in his usual number one spot.

Tim Vitek started the scoring off just forty seconds into the first period, off an assist by J.J. Wrobel and Kevin Harris. Ice Bears forward Chris Rebernik, who just returned to the ice this weekend, had two assists; as did Kevin Harris.

Tim Green and Ryan McCarthy scored for the Columbus Cottonmouths, but the Knoxville Ice Bears defeated the Cottonmouths by a score of 4-2. The Ice Bears remain in first place in Southern Professional Hockey League, followed by the Huntsville Havoc.

The Knoxville Ice Bears will play two games on the road next week and return home for back-to-back games on January 29 and 30.
