Ice Bears deal Cryer to complete trade

Rookie forward/defenseman Sean Cryer, who had four assists, 53 penalty minutes and was a minus-10, was sent to Fayetteville after Saturday's 2-0 victory over the Twin City Cyclones.

The Ice Bears also will sign Clay Lewis to a three-game tryout contract before Friday's game against the Richmond Renegades at Civic Coliseum. That will be the ninth used by Knoxville and leaves coach Scott Hillman with one more for the rest of the season,

Lewis, a 6-foot-4 defenseman from Boca Raton, Fla., had two goals, two assists and 54 penalty minutes in 25 games before he was released by the Renegades.

Keller and Lewis are expected to join the Ice Bears for practice at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Civic Coliseum.

Forward Chris Rebernik, who hasn't played since he injured his knee on Nov. 27 at Columbus, has started skating. He is expected back in about two weeks.

Forward Frank Furdero (ankle) remains on injured reserve.

Ice Bears Notebook: Kirk Irving and Andrew Gallant are 1-2 in the league in goaltending. . . . Forward Tim Vitek has logged at least one assist in each of his last nine games. . . . Vitek and Swider each have 14-game point streaks. . . . Kevin Harris is No. 2 among defensemen in scoring with 23 points. . . . Knoxville has moved into third place in attendance, averaging 3,217 per game.
