Ice Bears Expect Extra Fire From Former Players

date: 10/26/2011

Mike Towns might be stepping into a hornets’ nest tonight and Friday night at the Civic Coliseum.

The newest member of the Knoxville Ice Bears will play his first couple of games against teams with former Ice Bears who may still have ill feelings toward their ex-team.

Towns, a 6-foot-4 rookie forward from Adrian (Mich.) College, is just ready to play some hockey after being released by the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League.

“I’m pumped to be here,” Towns said after Wednesday morning’s skate. “Our team looks great so far, and I’m just excited to get going again.”

The Ice Bears (1-0), who opened the season last Friday with a 5-3 victory over the Mississippi Surge, get it going again tonight at 7:30 against rival Fayetteville (0-2) in a Southern Professional Hockey League game.
