Ice Bears fall to third in standings, 4-2

date: 02/08/2012

There was a sellout crowd of 5,117 fans at the Civic Coliseum on Saturday night, but also some no-shows that disappointed Knoxville Ice Bears coach Mike Craigen.

That’s because the no-shows were on Craigen’s team.

Goalie Ian Vigier had 33 saves as Columbus beat the Ice Bears 4-2 and took over second place in the Southern Professional Hockey League standings.

Knoxville (22-11-3) lost its sixth consecutive game.

“We aren’t good enough to win if we don’t have everybody going,”  Craigen said. “We’re not a good enough team to have half our team take the night off. We are not a good enough team to show up and expect to win without everybody going, and we’re finding that out the hard way right now because we’ve got a lot of passengers lately.”

Some may not be around when the Ice Bears play host to Fayetteville on Thursday night.
