Ice Bears overtime game

date: 01/16/2009

Ice Bears fans were not only entertained by some intense action on the ice tonight, but also by some guest, including Darth Vader, Captain Rex and the Storm Troopers. They were in attendance to collect Star Wars toys for East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. The toys were donated by generous fans.

After Captain Rex dropped the puck, the Richmond Renegades started the action off quickly with forward Justin Joy scoring less than two minutes into the game. The scoring came fast and furious then with four goals being scored in the first and second periods. Each team had a variety of players score, and the assists were highlighted by Matt Larke of Richmond and Mark Van Vliet of Knoxville. Knoxville Ice Bears forward Mike Carter had a hat trick, but Renegades Rollins ended the game in overtime. The final score was 6-5.

The Ice Bears have two more home games left in hat trick weekend.
