Ice Bears Win at Home, Lose Away

November 27 - The Ice Bears won at home convincingly against the Louisiana IceGators 5-2. Van Vliet, Vitek, and Pelkey took advantage of 3 powerplays and scored the first 3 goals of the game giving the Ice Bears an early 3-0 lead. Taylor Hustead, new to the Ice Bears, scored the last two goals of the game sealing the deal, giving the Ice Bears the victory. Dan Earles had another impressive performance saving 24 of 26 shots fired at him giving him another win on the season.

 

November 28 - The Ice Bears came out firing and gained the early lead near the end of the first period. Harris and Melnyk assisted Farrell for the first goal of the game. From then on, Hunstville controlled most of the game by outscoring the Ice Bears 3-0, which resulted in a 3-1 victory for the Havoc. Dan Earles had another impressive game saving 39 of 41 shots, but the Ice Bears only recorded 31 shots, which proved to be the difference in the game.

 

The Ice Bears picked up 2 more points over the weekend bringing their point total on the season to 14 and their overall record to 7-6. They are now two points behind Fayetteville, Pensacola, and Huntsville who hold a three-way tie for first place in the SPHL. The Ice Bears are tied with Columbus for third place in the league but look to change that this Thursday, December 3, at home against the Pensacola Ice Flyers at 7:30 P.M.
