Ice Bears win shootout in Columbus

The Columbus Cottonmouths hosted the Southern Professional Hockey League’s top team Friday night in the Columbus Civic Center before a crowd of 2,565, but the Knoxville Ice Bears retained the league’s top spot with a 3-2 shootout victory over the third-place Snakes.Knoxville assumed the top spot on Thursday with a 5-1 victory over Augusta. It was the first time the RiverHawks were out of first since opening night.
