Jason Ford is Ice Bears “Utility Man”

Most of the Knoxville Ice Bears will have specified roles for tonight’s season-opening exhibition game on the road against the Columbus Cottonmouths.
Not Jason Ford.
He might play defense. He might be a forward.
“I’m the utility man,” Ford said after Wednesday morning’s workout. “Whatever is needed at the time. If they need me to drop back, I’ll play ‘D’, and during the course of the game, penalties or injuries, I’ll jump up (to forward).”
It’s that kind of attitude that helped Ford earn a roster spot during the 2010 training camp as a rookie out of Marian (Wis.) University.
Ford made the team as a forward, but sustained an ankle/foot injury and was placed on 30-day injured reserve on Jan. 13. When he returned Feb. 12, Ford moved to an injury-hampered defense.
