Kallechy, Ice Bears bounce back against IceGators, 5-2

Rookie goalie Jesse Kallechy got just what he needed Saturday night — and so did the Knoxville Ice Bears.

After being benched Friday night, Kallechy posted 35 saves as the Ice Bears beat the Louisiana IceGators 5-2 in a Southern Professional Hockey League game before 4,320 fans at the Civic Coliseum.

Kallechy bounced back from Friday night when he gave up two goals in the first period and was benched during a 5-4 loss to the IceGators.

“It’s nice the coaches had enough faith to go back to me,” Kallechy said. “I just kind of wanted to go out there and do it for everybody in the (locker) room because obviously I had a tough night (Friday) night and I think I owed it to all the guys tonight. I’m just glad things went my way.”
