KNOXVILLE GOALTENDER KALLECHY NAMED SBK PLAYER OF THE WEEK

CHARLOTTE, NC (December 13, 2011) – The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Jesse Kallechy of the Knoxville Ice Bears is the SBK Player of the Week for December 5-11. 

Kallechy recorded his first two professional wins as the visiting Ice Bears swept a pair of games from the Mississippi RiverKings.  Kallechy posted a 1.92 goals against average and a save percentage of .950 as he stopped 76 of 80 shots on the weekend.

On Friday, the native of Sherwood Park, Alberta made 37 saves, including six in overtime, as the Ice Bears scored with one second remaining in the extra period for a 4-3 win over the RiverKings.  Kallechy followed that up with a 39-save performance, including 18 in the second period, as Knoxville defeated Mississippi 4-1.

Kallechy previously played for the AJHL’s Fort McMurray Oil Barons, where last season he posted a record of 32-13-1 with a 2.25 goals against average, a save percentage of .922 and seven shutouts.
