Knoxville Ice Bears add two points
date: 01/09/2009The Knoxville Ice Bears added two more points to their first place total tonight with a win over the second place Huntsville Havoc. The two teams switched places in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) standings over the past week. With wins over Richmond and Huntsville, Knoxville is five points ahead of the Havoc.
Ice Bears defenseman Kevin Harris started off Knoxville’s strong first period with a goal three and a half minutes after the puck dropped. Shaun Norrie and B.J. Pelkey also scored in the first period putting the Ice Bears up 3-0. Huntsville put two points on the board in the second period and one in the third. Knoxville’s Tim Vitek scored a power play and an empty netter to make the final 5-3.
The Ice Bears take on the Twin City Cyclones tomorrow night for Race Night.
