Knoxville Ice Bears defeat FireAntz
date: 12/27/2008
After a disappointing overtime loss to Richmond last night, the Knoxville Ice Bears defeated the Fayetteville FireAntz tonight 3-2.
The first half of the game was scoreless, but then the goals came quickly. Rob Sich of Fayetteville started it off as he scored the first goal of the night, which was assisted by Olauson and Buccella. The next two came from the first star of the game, Knoxville Ice Bears forward Mike Carter. Two other Knoxville forwards contributed greatly to the win tonight as well. Kevin Swider scored one goal and two assists; while Tim Vitek had two assists.
With this win over Fayetteville, the Knoxville Ice Bears are only five points behind the Southern Professional Hockey League’s first-place team the Huntsville Havoc. The Richmond Renegades are in third place followed by Columbus, Fayetteville and Twin City.
The Ice Bears will play five games next week, four of which will be road games. The first home game of the new year will be on Friday, January 2 against the Columbus Cottonmouths. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.
