Knoxville Ice Bears to play game five

March 31, 2009 - The Knoxville Ice Bears will play game five of the first round of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) playoffs tomorrow night at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. This comes after the fourth-seeded Huntsville Havoc tied the series 2-2 last night is Huntsville, Alabama.

 

The Knoxville Ice Bears, defending champions of the SPHL, started round one against the Havoc on Thursday, March 26 at home. The Ice Bears quickly went up 2-0 in the series; however, the Havoc answered back with two wins on their home ice. Game five will be the tie-breaker, and the winner will play the winner of the Columbus Cottonmouths/Fayetteville FireAntz series for the President’s Cup.

 

All fans can take advantage of $5 silver level tickets for the Wednesday, April 1 game. The $5 tickets are available at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum box office. 94.3 the X will also be in the house cheering on the Knoxville Ice Bears and hosting a balloon drop during first intermission. Two lucky fans will have the opportunity to win over $200, and J., host of the new morning show, will start the game out with the ceremonial puck drop.

 

“Even though this will be an intense playoff game, we are still working diligently to provide family-friendly, affordable entertainment in a professional sports environment. Offering fans $5 tickets and great intermission activities are just two of the ways that we continue to do this. We hope that all of our fans will come out tomorrow night and cheer on our team in this very crucial game as we try to defend our title,” commented president and general manager Mike Murray.
