Knoxville to host SPHL winter meeting
date: 01/19/2009SPHL owners and leaders convening in Knoxville on Sunday, January 25 and Monday, January 26.
"This is a great opportunity to prove to the league owners that Knoxville can be a first-class host," said Ice Bears President Mike Murray. "I'm excited to showcase our city to the rest of the SPHL."
The SPHL is in its fifth year and has impressed the hockey world with its financial steadiness and solid fan base even in these hard economic times. In fact, one of the highlights of the meetings will be the discussion by owners and team representatives on the possibility of league expansion.
The two-day meetings will be held at the Holiday Inn Select Cedar Bluff, with Sunday being a networking day and Monday containing a full slate of various topics. At 5:00 p.m. the meetings will be open to the media.
"Knoxville is recognized as a superior city within the SPHL," added Murray. "These meetings will enhance that image even more."
