Knoxville’s Balanced Scoring Great to See
date: 10/31/2011It wasn’t just the Tennessee Vols look-a-like uniforms that gave the Knoxville Ice Bears a new spark Friday night.
Four players scored their first-ever goals for Knoxville as the Ice Bears beat the Mississippi RiverKings 7-4 in a Southern Professional Hockey League game before 2,617 fans at the Civic Coliseum.
Josh Boyd, Eric Satim, Ricky Helmbrecht, and Kyle Van Dermale scored their first goals for Knoxville (3-0).
“We’ve got a ton of depth right now,” Boyd said. “We don’t have to rely on one line or one guy. We’ve got a bunch of scorers, we’ve got guys who can kill penalties, guys that play power plays. (Bryan) Hince is a great goalie in this league, and as long as we keep playing our game, we’re going to be a team to be reckoned with.”
David Segal, Eric Slais, and Emery Olauson, all returnees of Knoxville’s 2010-11 team, also scored goals for the Ice Bears.
