Where: Knoxville Ice Bears Game, Civic Coliseum, Knoxville, Tennessee
When: December 3, 2010 (immediately following Knoxville Ice Bears/Augusta River Hawks- appx. 9:30pm)

November 17, 2010 - Knoxville Ice Bears' fans will have a rare treat at the December 3rd home game. Melissa Lawson, Winner of the 2008 Nashville Star and new ambassador for diaperloveTM, a non-profit organization providing diapers to children in need, will sing the national anthem and perform a post-game benefit concert at the December 3rd Knoxville Ice Bears home game. Ice Bears fans who bring a box of diapers to the game receive a free Melissa Lawson CD.

Fans will have the opportunity to hear the popular singer belt out favorites like What if it all Goes Right? and United We Stand, with the powerhouse voice that took first place in the ‘grassroots next big music star' show Nashville Star, and put her front and center on the national stage. Her single, "What If it all Goes Right" went straight to the number one slot on iTunes Country charts. Following her win, she headlined the Nashville Star Tour, followed by an appearance at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. In 2009, Melissa and her family appeared on the cable network show, "Breakthrough with Tony Robbins."

The event will be the kick-off for Melissa's national concert tour on behalf of diaperLove in 2011. Melissa, mother of five boys, has enthusiastically embraced the mission of diaperLove ambassador to promote awareness, stating it fits perfectly with her own personal mission: "I want to tackle real-life issues that women around the country have to deal with," she says, "that anyone who struggles and has a dream has to deal with. After a decade of diapers with my 5 boys, I understand that adequately diapering our babies should be the least of our worries. diaper love helps moms and dads fill the gap when there's a need."

diaperLove distributes diapers directly to families and also through non-profit organizations that serve children and families in need. Safety-net assistance programs, such as the Food Stamp Program and WIC, do not cover the cost of diapers. Babies and toddlers at risk in our communities can spend day(s) in the same soiled diaper with inherent health and emotional risks because their parents cannot afford diapers. Without an adequate supply of diapers, parents cannot leave their children at daycare in order to work, attend school or job training. There are food pantries, rent subsidies, utility assistance, clothing and coat drives - but there is a critical service gap in diapers. Parents often have to choose between food and other necessities and caring for their babies with this most basic need. The vision for diaperLove is 200 chapters throughout the United States by 2020.
