Biloxi, MS - The Knoxville Ice Bears (6-4-0) concluded their three game road trip with their third straight win and propelled the team into a three way tie for first place in the SPHL. The second win in consecutive nights was lead by the edgy forward, David Segal, who was named the first star of the game. Segal recorded an assist on each of the Ice Bears three goals and added seven minutes in penalties.
Paul Lynch and Frank Furdero each scored in the first period, and carried a 2 - 0 lead into the locker room. The Ice Bears managed to out shoot an opponent for the first time in three games.
The second period saw more of the same with Donald Melnyk scoring his fifth goal of the season. Through two periods of the play Andrew Gallant has turned away all 21 of the Surge's shots.
Mississippi did not quit - pushing the Ice Bears to the brink on goals by Boudreau and Shofield and pulling within one with 8:25 remaining in the game. From that point, Knoxville tightened up and skated to victory.
Next home game is Friday, November 27th at 7:30 pm at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. Don't miss out the first of two Weiner Dog Races.
