SPHL Addresses Issues With B2 Networks, Louisiana Broadcasts
date: 11/16/2009CHARLOTTE, NC (November 16, 2009) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today addressed issues concerning the unavailability of Louisiana IceGators' home games through B2 Networks, the league's exclusive provider of broadband internet telecasts.
"The biggest problem is simply that the IceGators are playing in a 70-year old facility," stated SPHL Vice President Doug Price. "As part of the application process, the League was made aware of certain issues directly related to the age of the building. We were assured that these issues would be resolved to our satisfaction and to date, the IceGators' management has done a great job getting Blackham Coliseum ready for SPHL hockey."
"Unfortunately, upgrading such an technologically-outdated facility has proven to be more difficult than originally anticipated," continued Price. "Transmission of games over the B2 Network requires a significant fiber-optic network and that is where the IceGators have run into delays"
"However, we want to let our fans and B2 Season Pass holders know that we are working to get Louisiana up and running as soon as possible and appreciate their patience in this situation. We are confident that through Louisiana's continued efforts, B2 Networks broadcasts will soon be available. Our relationship with B2 is one that has worked well for both parties and we look forward to continuing our partnership through this season and beyond."
