SPHL Conclude Board of Governor’s Meetings

CHARLOTTE, NC (June 23, 2011) - The annual SPHL Board of Governors Meeting was held in Las Vegas this week and the following items were approved by the Board of Governors:
Return To OTL Standings Format
Again this season, teams that lose in overtime or a shootout will earn one point in the standings.
Game Lineup Limit
After experimenting with a hybrid system last year, all teams will be permitted to dress 18 players for games this season.
Pensacola's Kerr Re-Elected Chairman Of The Board
Tim Kerr, managing partner of the Pensacola Ice Flyers, was re-elected to serve a second term as Chairman of the Board of Governors.
Overseas Deadline
In a unanimous vote, the Board of Governors ruled that any player who plays a game outside of North America after January 1 will not be eligible to play in the SPHL the remainder of that season.
Playoff Format
The Board of Governors will be holding a conference call in early July to approve one of several playoff formats that were discussed during the meeting.
