Teddy Bears for Children’s Hospital
date: 11/01/2007Immediately after the Ice Bears score their first goal, fans will be instructed to toss their teddy bears onto the ice. Not only is this fun for the fans, but the Ice Bears players also look forward to delivering them to kids at Children's Hospital. Players and staff will visit the hospital ten times during the 2007-08 season. During each visit, the Ice Bears spend time with the kids who are suffering from illnesses. They sign autographs, pose for photos, and of course, deliver teddy bears. All of this is an attempt to bring some joy to the kids' lives, and make their hospital stay more bearable.
''I am blessed to be able to play a professional sport, and I enjoy getting involved in the community as a result of hockey. One of my favorite things that we do throughout the season is visit the patients at Children's Hospital. It is amazing how something as small as a teddy bear can bring so much happiness to a kid,'' said Knoxville Ice Bears veteran Mike Craigen.
Tickets are still available for the game. The Knoxville Ice Bears will take on the Huntsville Havoc at 7:30 p.m. at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. Reserve tickets by calling 656-4444.
