The chance to be a Hunnie is here
date: 04/15/2009
April 15, 2008 – Let’s call it the Ice Bears version of “Dancing with the Stars.” It’s got glitz, glamour, and the background sound of a puck hitting the goal post at 90 miles per hour.
Of course, we’re talking about the chance to become a Hunnie.
The Knoxville Ice Bears will host auditions for the 2009-2010 Hunnies promotional dance team on Saturday, April 18 in the Knoxville Civic Coliseum ballroom beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The Hunnies have been a part of the Ice Bears organization since 2004, and the Knoxville team is looking for some young ladies who would like to join in on the fun yet integral part of every home game. The Hunnies promotional dance team consists of a group of local women who perform dance routines, lead cheers, and interact with the fans. Outside of the arena the Hunnies participate in community service projects and maintain the charitable spirit of the Ice Bears toward the region. The Hunnies have been entertaining fans at Ice Bears games and are sponsored by Hardee’s and Hot 104.5.
“Being a Hunnie is a unique opportunity. It is not only a lot of fun, but it gives you an opportunity to be a role model to girls that attend the games and to give back to our community. We are looking for young women who are more than just performers,” said captain Erica Wilkerson, who not only practices and performs at each game, but also serves as an elementary school teacher at a local school.
If you’d like to attend the tryouts, visit the Knoxville Ice Bears office or http://www.knoxvilleicebears.com to obtain an application. With your application, you must submit a resume, picture, and a $25 application fee. Members of the 2009-2010 Knoxville Ice Bears Hunnies promotional dance team will be announced on Saturday.
