The players stepped out on the ice just before 10:00 to get warmed up for their morning skate. They’ll play their first preseason game tonight in Columbus, before returning to Knoxville to play the Cottonmouths on Friday. The players worked a lot on power play and penalty kill situations during yesterday morning’s practice. Not sure what coach Craigen will want to emphasize today.
Coach Craigen hasn’t made an appearance yet, but the players are putting themselves through a light drill. Starting at one end of the ice, they take an outlet pass and skate down the ice and finish with a shot on goal. (10:06 a.m.)
From the looks of things so far, the players are going to put themselves through some light drills and get a good work out in before leaving for tonight’s game. Don’t expect them to break too much of a sweat. (10:18 a.m.)
After working on some 2-on-2 and 2-on-1 breaks, the players take a quick water break and then get ready for the next drill. It’s a pretty relaxed environment at practice so far, but the players are definitely getting some good work in. They’re now working on puck movement and offence to defense transitions. (10:23 a.m.)
Players finish up the drill after going through it about three times with each line. They’ve moved on to a shootout drill, through the first eight shots, the goalies had shut the door on six of the shooters. They go for a few rounds before crowning a winner, which looks to be Nick Laporte. Players stretching at center ice. That looks to be the end of the morning skate. The team will travel to Columbus in a little bit. (10:31 a.m)
